About For Field & Forest

For Field & Forest began in 2020 as an internship experience during my undergraduate studies at Clarion University of Pennsylvania in northwestern PA. As a student of Environmental Biology, I began writing columns for my hometown newspaper about Pennsylvanian flora, fauna, and their ecological roles.

Once I graduated, I began an internship and soon started working as a technical writer at Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. — the largest plastics recycling company in North America. There, I gained an in-depth view into the plastics recycling process and the need for sustainable water management.

Before long, I decided it was time to further my education, and I began my graduate studies at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. While I recently finished my master’s in Applied and Environmental Geosciences, I have had the exciting opportunity to explore the environment of southwest Germany.

These columns began as a way to learn more about local plants and animals, to reflect on my state’s beautiful environment, and to share my enthusiasm with others. Over time and with more experience, I have begun to include other topics that I’m passionate about including environmental issues and sustainability. Likely, For Field & Forest will continue to evolve— with the ultimate goal of cultivating an appreciation for our environment and learning together along the way.

Happy reading!
